In 2022 I ran for St. Mary’s County Commissioner. While knocking on doors, I was surprised by the number of people who didn’t know about decisions being made in local government. 

But, our lives are busy. And local reporting was either inadequate, not easily accessible, or didn’t explain ‘the why’.

After concluding the campaign, I wanted to make use of my continued interest in local government. Informed St. Mary’s was created to keep you, the people of St. Mary’s County, in the know about local government, development, and more. 

Being informed means being empowered–to make educated decisions, to get involved in government, and to hold elected officials accountable with your vote.

I won’t get it right all the time. My pledge is to provide factual, relevant information with honest analysis and context. When opinions are offered, they’ll be clearly marked.

Feedback is welcome, and encouraged. You may not agree with everything written, but let’s have the conversation.
