Earlier this month, Big Lots announced the closure of up to 40 stores in a filing with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission. The company has nearly 1400 stores operating, and is considering bankruptcy as its financial situation worsens.

Three stores will close in Maryland, including the one in Lexington Park on Shangri la Drive. The shopping center, once called Millison Plaza, is undergoing a long planned remodel as it transforms into Pax River Village Center. Atlantic Realty Group, the new shopping center owners, recently broke ground on the renovations.

Early reports on the development mentioned Ollie’s potentially taking over the Big Lots space, which was shown on initial color renderings. No word about if this has become official.

According to Big Lots’ website, the Lexington Park location has an up to 20% off closing sale. There is no official closing date as of this writing.
