Rec & Park Director Retires

St. Mary's County Government announced via press release today at 2PM that the search is on for a new Director for St. Mary's County Recreation & Parks.

Current Director Art Shepherd has again announced his retirement. Shepherd retired back in 2022, but "came back to this role because of our community," he said in the release. "But now, the time has come to pass the torch to someone who will bring fresh energy and vision to carry forward the work we've started."

The department now has several significant vacancies. The untimely passing of Tyrone Harris, Parks Operations Manager, earlier this year was mourned by all in the community. Additionally, it was recently announced Parks Operations Manager Kyle Kebaugh has taken a new role with St. Mary's County Public Schools.

"Arthur has been a steadfast leader, dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents," commented Commissioner President Randy Guy.
