Royal Farms Update

Multiple Locations Seek Variances

Three Royal Farms locations have been approved in the county over the past several years–Charlotte Hall, California, and Lexington Park. Many have wondered what is taking so long to construct these locations. Obtaining proper permits and variances needed can delay the overall process. In fact, two locations–Charlotte Hall and Lexington Park–will appear before the Board of Appeals seeking variances for sign placement.

Royal Farms Charlotte Hall needs permission to exceed the height limit and to place their sign near an existing billboard. The Lexington Park location, meanwhile, is also looking to exceed height limits as well as increasing the sign face area from 32SF to 50SF. Construction at both locations is currently underway.

While the below advertisement also lists the Royal Farms in California, this location is absent from the Appeals agenda available online: https://go.boarddocs.com/md/stmarysco/Board.nsf/goto?open...

For those interested, comments can be sent to Sherrie.Young@stmaryscountymd.gov by 12PM on 9/11/24. The meeting will be held on 9/12/24 at 6:30PM in the Commissioners meeting room located at 41770 Baldridge St, Leonardtown.
