A self-storage facility could soon be located near Leonardtown Middle School, across from the fairgrounds, at the corner of Medleys Neck Rd and Route 5. The site, now home to a vacant 124 year old house, was previously planned for a 7/11 that was denied by the Planning Commission after public opposition to the project.
Owners Randy Whitsellf and Luis Neto, of Capitol Heights, propose what’s billed on planning documents as “Goddard Property Storage Facility.” Four 2-story buildings, nearly 25K SF each, along with three 1-story buildings at 3K, 3200, and 3900 respectively, and a 2-story, 2500 SF office building is planned for the 5.4 acre property. Access from the existing entrance to Big Ed’s Tire Pros off Route 5 provides ingress/egress from the site, which is surrounded by a 30ft bufferyard.
The application was filed in June 2024, so this project will likely go before the Planning Commission in coming months.
