Weis Callaway Gas ‘n Go

Callaway will soon have another gas station if plans for a new Weis Gas ‘N Go are approved. The concept plan is currently making its way through the Dept. of Land Use and Growth Management.

The plans show a 2,295 square foot (SF) gas station with a canopy over the pumps, built on Lot 2 just adjacent to the Weis shopping center. This parcel is currently advertised as commercial land for sale. Totaling 3.72 acres, the site currently has a stormwater retention pond which will remain after the gas station is built. Six pumps are shown on the plans, along with a 204 SF small building for one employee. The applicant has asked for a parking waiver to reduce the required 9 parking spots down to two–one for the employee and a handicapped parking spot. The Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance bases the amount of parking on the square footage of the building, but because these are gas pumps the applicant notes all transactions will happen at the pump, reducing the need for additional parking spaces.
